Multiple sclerosis

Physical therapy for multiple sclerosis

For adults living with MS who notice changes in strength, walking, balance or energy.

MS changes from person to person and from month to month. Your therapist plans around the way it is affecting you now, changes the plan when your symptoms change, and works with your neurologist if you ask us to.

This care is for you if

  • Walking feels slower, stiffer or less steady

  • Your legs or arms tire sooner than they used to

  • You have fallen, or you are afraid of falling

  • You want a plan for staying active that fits your energy

What a visit looks like

  • A visit

A visit lasts about an hour, and a long one can be broken up with rests. One physical therapist treats you.

  • What we do

We check strength, balance and walking, and how heat and tiredness affect you, then build a plan around your day. We teach pacing and show you how to change an exercise on a harder day.

  • What decides how many visits

How MS is affecting you now, how you respond to exercise, and what you want to keep doing. The plan changes when your symptoms do.

  • How it is paid for

Through your plan, or by paying yourself with a written estimate first. We tell you what to expect before your first visit.

Questions about this care

Is exercise right for me with MS?

Your neurologist and your therapist decide that together. Your therapist changes what you do to match how you feel that day, and stops when something is too much.

Can you work with my neurologist?

Yes, if you ask us to. With your written permission we share what we find and what we are working on.

What if my symptoms change?

Tell us. Your therapist changes the plan, and you can call between visits.

Ready to start?

Tell us how to reach you. We reply within one business day.
