Balance and walking

Balance and walking

For adults who feel unsteady, have fallen or are afraid of falling.

Your therapist checks how you stand, step and turn, and practices the situations that worry you: stairs, curbs, a crowded room. If you use a cane or walker, we make sure it fits you and show you how to use it.

This care is for you if

  • You feel unsteady on stairs, curbs or uneven ground

  • You have fallen, or nearly fallen, and want to understand why

  • A family member worries about you walking alone

  • You want to keep walking, gardening or traveling

What a visit looks like

  • A visit

A visit lasts about an hour. Some of our balance sessions are in a small group led by a physical therapist.

  • What we do

We check strength, feet and balance, then practice steps and turns with a hand nearby. You leave each visit knowing what to practice before the next.

  • What decides how many visits

What your therapist finds, what you practice at home, and how your balance responds. Your therapist talks it through with you.

  • How it is paid for

Through your plan, or by paying yourself with a written estimate first. We tell you what to expect before your first visit.
