Your first visit

From the first call to your plan

Your first visit is about an hour. Here is how it goes.

  1. Step 1: Before you come

We call to confirm the time and answer questions. We don't ask for your health history by form; you tell your therapist in person.

  2. Step 2: When you arrive

Check in at the front desk. Bring your plan card and a list of your medicines. A family member is welcome.

  3. Step 3: Your conversation

Your therapist asks about your day and what you want to do again, and listens first.

  4. Step 4: Your examination

They check how you stand, walk, reach and grip, with a hand nearby, and explain what they find.

  5. Step 5: Your plan

You agree on where to start, what to practice at home and when to come back.

What to wear and bring

Come as you are, with a few things

Wear clothes and shoes you can move in. If you use a cane, walker or brace, bring it. We have chairs, mats and a parallel bar, and your therapist will tell you if you need anything else.

  • Your plan card and photo ID

  • A list of your medicines

  • Any cane, walker or brace you use

  • A family member or care partner, if you like

What is not decided on day one

  • How long care will take

That depends on what your therapist finds and how you respond. We say so, and we talk about it as you go.

  • Anything you are not ready for

You can say stop or not yet at any time. Your therapist changes the plan.

  • Your goals

They can change. Tell your therapist when they do.
